United Methodist Women (UMW) is the successor to the home and foreign missionary societies, the ladies' aid societies, and guilds of the seven predecessor denominations now comprising the United Methodist Church. It is a group of women in each congregation organized for mission.

First Circle meets at 1:00 pm, the second Monday of each month at Sharon.
Mary & Martha Circle meets at 7:00 pm, the second Tuesday of each month at Sharon.
Roses of Sharon Circle meets at 10:00 am, the second Tuesday of each month at Sharon.

Upcoming UMW Events
The WNCC Conference UMW School of Christian Mission is July 15-18 in Greensboro, NC. The new mission study for 2010-2011 is "Joy to the World: Mission in the Age of Global Christianity." The Spiritual Growth study is "For the Love of God: John's Letters." Pre-registration required.
UMW is serving at the Men's Uptown Shelter on July 19th. Contact Sharon Griffith to volunteer as a server on the 19th or to bring brownies to the church on the 18th.
The Charlotte District Annual Meeting will be Saturday, August 28th at First UMC in Charlotte. The program topic is "Voices from SEAsia." Registration and cost of $7.50 is due to Karen Olert no later than August 15th. The event is 8:45 am -12:00 pm (noon), beginning with breakfast followed by the program and meeting. Carpool will leave Sharon at 8:30 am.
The WNCC Annual Meeting in Lake Junaluska is September 10-12. The theme is "Faith. Hope. Love in Action." Housing reservations are now being accepted. See http://www.wnccumw.org/ or the UMW box in the church office for forms.
