Our Mission Sharon United Methodist Weekday School’s mission is to provide a high-quality early childhood program. We achieve this by offering a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development of young children. Our Philosophy Our philosophy about childhood learning embraces the idea that children develop academic and social skills through developmentally-appropriate play and interaction with peers. We encourage children to learn about their world through exploration rather than memorization of data. Research suggests that young children build important critical reasoning skills through hands-on play. At our school, we provide many interest centers for exploration and learning. Just a taste of what we offer: a variety of art materials, sensory tables that change often, science centers, manipulatives for fine motor and math skills, blocks, and dramatic play. As children are doing, they are learning--about science, math, writing, reading, and how to get along with and care for others. At Sharon United Methodist Weekday School, children learn valuable intellectual and social skills that help them achieve life-long success and satisfaction. |
